Cooked junk food

My mom cooks up junk food. You usually buy it at a store (chips, candy bars, Hostess), though you might whip something up at home (baked goods, dip). But my mom cooks it. She makes noodles that have no nutritional value whatsoever:

noodles
dried shallots
shredded dried pork (ba-so)
sriracha
sesame oil

That's basically it. Just mix stuff in with the noodles once they're cooked. A bit dry, but nevertheless, completely tasty and junky. yum! :) K-drama snacking food for summer '10!

Brother's Appreciation

The sisters appreciated our brothers on Saturday by planning a sort of progressive dinner. God graced it and it ran smoothly, with lots of really good food!! :) Some things I wanna learn to make:

Angie's "Minnesota casserole"/"unShepherd's Pie"
Becky's deviled eggs (or any deviled eggs. I never thought I'd like deviled eggs!)

I helped Helen with her appetizer--bacon-wrapped, cream cheese-filled jalapenos! That's basically what it is, and how you make it. Seeded jalapenos are not spicy at all. Bake them at 375 F for 20 minutes. Or 25 minutes... I don't remember. I recreated them and had them with my dinner. This time, though, I used fat-free cream cheese and turkey bacon. Still tastes good!

First...

I never cook. Sometimes I make this white sauce thing with spam and onions over rice. But that's pretty rare. Some time last year I forgot to beat the egg when a friend asked for scrambled eggs. And I learned how to scramble eggs when I was, like, 7.

But my roommate cooks. My mom does too. So I watch them, and I'm trying to be better about helping them too. I should learn from them, so this is my collection of recipes. That's all. :) I mean, I guess this blog is more for my own sake--not like I'm trying to change the world or be poetic and artsy and witty or anything. Maybe if there's something to publish, or something, I'll be better about being intentional about actively learning about how to cook. And so, I'll try to add pictures and stuff, but I dunno. We'll see...

And I'm actually procrastinating right now. So.. byebye
